The influence of ankle dorsiflexion range of motion on unanticipated cutting kinematics

Explore whether dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM) influences cutting kinematics. Dorsiflexion ROM was measured in 42 individuals using the weight-bearing lunge test (WBLT). Unanticipated kinematics were collected at initial contact (IC) and between IC maximum knee flexion three-dimensional inertial measurement unit methods. Multiple linear regressions with sex as a confounder used to explore relationship kinematic variables WBLT for both legs. values 51.33 ± 6.48° 50.21 7.00° on dominant non-dominant legs, respectively. For leg cutting, transverse plane increased 0.20° (p = 0.037), sagittal trunk 0.16° 0.044), decreased 0.39° 0.009) each degree measured. Males had 5.89° greater than females. peak lateral towards stance leg, coronal hip 0.36° 0.039), 0.24° 0.017), 0.21° 0.005) ROM, may contribute anterior cruciate ligament injury.
